Each newly ordained deacon then goes to the bishop and kneels before him. The bishop places the Book of the Gospels in the hands of the newly ordained, saying, “Receive the Gospel of Christ whose herald you have become. Believe what you read, teach what you believe, and practice what you teach.”

On February 28, 2025, Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama ordained our brothers Fransiskus Feri and Wilfredirikus Amnunuh to the transitional diaconate. The ordination took place at the parish of St. Mary's of the Angels in Mt. Olive.

Faithful from the parish communities of Transfiguration, Wallace; Mission Sta. Clara; and St. Mary's of the Angels came in great numbers. The mass was also attended with both the diocesan priests and CICM confreres from North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland.

The bishop in his homily, reminded the candidates that they are to love just as Jesus love. He quoted Pope Francis words that soon they will become pastors so they should strive, "to be shepherds with the smell of the sheep."
